Friday Morning Ceramics
Friday morning 9-week course start 3 October
9:30-12:00
Sessions: 3/10, 10/10, 31/10, 7/11, 14/11, 21/11, 28/11, 5/12, 12/12 (No class on 17 + 24 Oct during Autumn holidays and 19 Dec through Christmas holidays).
In this 9 week course, students will explore the fundamentals of handbuilding and wheelthrowing with clay and discover a wide range of surface decorating techniques to bring their pieces to life.
We will begin with core construction methods, such as pinch, coil, and slab building and with each project, learn a new technique to refine the surface. There will also be wheel thrown projects. (For those of you who would like to practice and fine tuned your throwing or handbuilding skills, there's an option to add-on lab hours).
This class is perfect for beginners as well as those looking to deepen their practice. Each week builds on the last, with guided demonstations, hands-on practice, and opportunities to develop personal projects. By the end of this course, students will have a strong foundation in handbuilding and surface design, along with a collection of finished ceramic pieces.
There will be an unveiling party on the last week of all students' pieces, where we can share warm food and drinks and talk about our process, our experiences, and our finished pieces.
Students completing 9 week course will bring home about 7 pieces of finished projects, maximum 35L. (Additional work will be charged €2 per litre).
2½ hours class (Clay, glazes, and 35L firing included)
Lessons will be taught in English at Baggerbeest, Sluisbuurt.
