In this 7 week course, we will cover basic to intermediate hand-building techniques.
For the beginner, we will cover ceramic hand-building and learn about the making process from beginning to finish, as well as the firing process. The projects in this course will cover how to make a pinch pot, how to construct with coiling and slab, a pulled handle, decorating with oxides and glazes.
Intermediate students who have taken ceramics previously, we will get in depth with techniques you already know. While the beginners work on the weekly project in place, the intermediate students will have more freedom in the areas they would like to explore. For example, there will be new challenges with new projects in the areas of sculpting, surface design, while some projects will be furthering our understanding on what we already know.
With the completion of this course, students will have a good understanding of how to successfully make sculptures and tableware out of clay.
There will be an unveiling party on the last week of all students' pieces, where we can share warm food and drinks and talk about our process, our experiences, and our finished pieces.
Students completing 7 week course will bring home 4-5 pieces of finished projects, maximum 12L. (Additional work will be charged €2 per litre).
3 hours class (Clay, glazes, and 20L firing included)
Lessons will be taught in English at Baggerbeest, Sluisbuurt.
