Island of Understanding is a service facilitating art classes for both children and adults. Please read carefully before completing your registration and payment.
By signing up for a class or workshop, the student agrees to the terms and conditions.
Island of Understanding reserves the right to update the Terms and Conditions at any time. The Terms and Conditions, once published on this page, will be effective immediately.
Cancellation, Refund and Transfer Policy
Island of Understanding reserves the right to amend any class, teacher, or schedule. In such circumstances, we will do our best to provide a substitute of equal standing. Should a class have to be canceled for any reason, such as insufficient enrollments, any student enrolled in that class will be contacted and an alternative class, credit or refund arranged.
Policy for Courses and Workshops
Cancellations up to 1 week before the start of the course/workshop When you cancel a minimum of 1 week (7 days) before the start of a course or workshop you will receive 75% value as a voucher to be used for any future Island of Understanding course/workshop or directly book you for another course/workshop with a later start date. The voucher is transferable and expires 12 months from the date payment was received. Alternatively, you may transfer the booking to another person, such as a family member or friend. Please let us know of any transfers at the time of cancellation.
Cancellations between seven to two days before the start of the course/workshop When you cancel between seven to two days before the start of a course, you will receive half of the value as a voucher to be used for any future Island of Understanding workshop/ class. The voucher is transferable and expires within 12 months of the date payment was received. Alternatively, you may transfer the booking to another person, such as a family member or friend. Please let us know of any transfers at the time of cancellation.
Cancellations within 48 hours before the start of the course/workshop If you cancel within 48 hours days before start date, you will not receive a refund, transfer, or credit. To avoid forfeiting your spot in the course/workshop, you may transfer the booking to another child, such as a family member or friend, at no charge. Please let us know of any transfers at the time of cancellation.
Missed classes There are no transfers, credit, refunds or make up sessions if you miss a class or if your personal circumstances change. We will try our best to get you up to speed in the next class.
Payment or fees
Course/workshop fees are listed with the course details on our website. Payment of the full class fee via online payment is required at the time of enrollment to secure your place. We use iDEAL.
If you do not wish to enroll via the web, you can enroll in person. We accept online direct deposits into our bank account. Fees are inclusive of VAT and receipts will be provided on receipt of payment.
Gift certificates
'Purchased' gift certificates are valid 12 months from the date of purchase or until the date listed on the certificate. Our Cancellation and Refund policy applies to 'Purchased' gift certificates used to pay for classes.
'Complimentary' gift certificates are issued from time to time as prizes for competitions and fundraisers. These are valid for 6 months from the date of issue or until the date listed on the certificate. No extensions will be given. 'Complimentary' gift certificates cannot be used in conjunction with any other discount, special offer or gift certificate. The Gift Certificate cannot be used to purchase art materials.
No cancellations, transfers or credits are possible when a 'Complimentary' gift certificate is used to pay for a class.
Tools and Art Materials
- Ceramic courses/workshops: Tools, materials such as clay and glazes are included in the fee. As well as the bisque and glaze firing for projects listed in the course/workshop.
- Watercolor workshops: This will be specified in the class description.
Marketing Material
From time to time we take photos during class of students and/or their artworks. These images are used for Island of Understanding's promotional purposes such as press advertising, brochures, social media, editorials and website. These photos will never be sold and will be used exclusively by and for Island of Understanding. As a Condition of Enrollment your consent is implied. Should you not wish for us to take and use photos/images of you, your child or your artwork please notify us in writing.
Occupational Health & Safety
If you have an existing medical condition, allergy or disability that may affect your participation in a class, you should notify us at the time of enrollment.
Privacy
Contact information you supply to Island of Understanding will not be disclosed to anyone without your express consent, except where required by law.
Island of Understanding will from time-to-time send mail and email to students and past students for the purpose of marketing. Should you not wish to receive mailings from Island of Understanding, please notify us that you wish to unsubscribe.
